Hines was honored to participate in the full renovation of the historic Old Town Square, as well as the transformation of the surrounding streets and alleyways including Linden Street, Old Firehouse Alley, and Montezuma & Fuller Alley. This pivotal downtown project tapped into the area’s potential for enhanced pedestrian connections, art, sustainability, and livability.
What we accomplished:
1.
Our engineers played an integral role in the project that successfully transformed key alleyways into pedestrian and retail thoroughfares that linked CSU and midtown pedestrian traffic to downtown historic and retail areas.
2.
On Linden Street, we designed over 1,100 linear feet of urban streetscape irrigation design to various point-source drip irrigated planting elements. All design plans, details, specifications, and cost estimates items were prepared in accordance with City and CDOT requirements.
3.
Hines assisted in the redevelopment of Old Town Square and carefully planned irrigation system design and construction to maintain existing trees and reduce the impact on local retailers.

An entire historic city block of downtown Fort Collins was reinvigorated using old shipping containers and innovative design. Now, The Exchange is one of the busiest spots in Old Town, and features restaurants, outdoor seating, and even mini golf.
